Background and Approach
Throughout her professional work as a nurse and public health educator, Sally has been strongly aware of the many factors that shape a person's mental and physical health. Her decision to become a Marriage and Family Therapist is the result of many years of listening to and guiding individuals to better holistic health.
Sally obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from The University of Michigan, a Master of Public Health from The University of North Carolina, and a Master of Art in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University.
Outside of therapy, Sally enjoys hiking, exploring new places, catching up with friends and family, watching soccer and football, and drinking coffee. Born and raised in Michigan, Sally has lived on both coasts of the United States with her husband and 4 girls (including triplets) and she is proud to be back in Michigan to stay.
Sally is passionate about strengthening and healing relationships, and she has advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the gold-standard in Couples Therapy. Research shows that 70-75% of couples going through EFT successfully move from distress to recovery, and 90% of couples show significant improvements. Sally’s therapeutic style of empathy and compassion, combined with her specialized training in EFT, helps couples connect in more loving and supportive ways. Together, you and your partner will learn to identify and heal your real conflicts – as partners who are more secure, more strongly connected and have a greater ability to safely express and meet each other’s emotional needs.
Understanding Marriage and Family Therapy
Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) are mental health professionals trained in psychotherapy and family systems, and licensed to diagnose and treat mental and emotional issues. Research demonstrates that marriage and family therapy is as effective, and in some cases more effective, than standard and/or individual treatments for many mental health concerns.
MFTs work with individuals, couples, and families, focusing on important relationships to promote meaningful, lasting change. MFTs understand the issues you are dealing with in the context of your relationships, helping you understand not just your own psychological state, but how it impacts (and is impacted) by the world around you.
Working together, we will look at your situation holistically, understand your issues within the context of your relationships, and take time to understand your unique story in order to support the lifelong change you are about to create.

Diversity Statement
Everyone deserves access to quality mental health care services. Who you are is so much more than the boxes you check on a form. Though certain characteristics (such as race, ethnicity, nationality, biological sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, size, ability level, education, religion, income, marital status, family structure, cultural custom, personality or political view) can provide insight, who you are is more about the intersections of these characteristics in your unique life experiences.
Simply put: What makes you YOU matters deeply.
Sally offers inclusive, affirming, and culturally-sensitive therapy that honors your uniqueness in a safe place for you to be accepted and valued.
